Car Insurance Daewoo (Car Insurance). What's wrong with this car? What's wrong with this car? Ok....im using this car of my parents and they haven't ran it in at least two years. it's an 89 buick. it keeps dying on me, when I slow down to stop, stop at signs or lights it dies. I try to restart it, and it may start, but it dies within a few sec.usually it takes 2-5 min to restart it. My dad thinks it's rotten dasd, my grandpa thinks it's the fuel filter....your opinion? I plan on changing the oil and oil filter the sure filter It could be bad fuel from sitting so long. next time you fill the car up or put gas in it run 92 octane through it. it will help clean it up. replacing the fuel filter is a good idea as well. It could also be the pick up in the distributor is bad. Try the fuel options first and see if it fixes the problem. If not i would take it some place and have then check the pick up and see if its bad. Could also be the coil is goin bad I'd say fuel filter needs to be changed. Good luck, no guarantees. Drain the fuel and change the fuel filter. Put new fuel in and see what happens. Change the oil after When a car hasn't run in several years the gas can gum up filters, carburetors, and fuel injectors. It sounds like the engine is not getting gas, so one of the above is likely the problem. Sometimes the gas tank will rust and little flakes get into the fuel filter. im assuming you have filled it with new petrol? if not that is defiantly the problem. probably needs a full service: spark plugs and possibly leads, new fuel filter. can you give any more detail on the car itself? 1989 buick is bound to to have dried and cracked vacumlines,a leaking vacum line will cause the prolbem you are having,i dont think its bad gas because im sure you would have put gas in it by now ! start the car raise the hood and listen for a hissing noise if you hear one pinpoint the hose and replace it!! needs new air ,fuel and oil filters (oil chng too). check the vacuum lines, for dry rotting and cracks. good luck. After further inspection I realized my tank was empty after having a half tank of gas when I parked it. So I put more fuel in thinking that was the problem, however it was leaking on the ground. I couldn' tell where it was coming from due to it being dark out besides it was on the side of the tank toward middle of truck. Today, I went back out and put more fuel in it but this time it didn't leak and still wouldn't start. It did act like it was going to after this first crank then after that it just cranked over. Ok, so where's the Gallardo replacement? So we now have the Aventador, which has taken the empty throne left by the Murcielago. The Murc was my childhood dream car, so I was a little sad when it was axed. But I've come around and I think I like new one better than the bat. But now I have to wonder, what about the Gallardo? Sure, it's gorgeous looks are matched by it's equally sweet engine noise, but it's starting to get on in years. The Ferrari 458 Italia, the McLaren MP-14C, these rivals have burst onto the scene and are a step ahead. The Gallardo is a gold mine for Lambo, best selling supercar I believe? So what's next? Daewoo . How to Install a Fuel Tank in a Geo MetroThe Geo Metro is a small compact car, but the Metro handles the same way as bigger Geo models. The Geo Metro is similar to the Chevrolet Sprint as well as the Chevrolet Metro. Check your fuel tank for any cracks or corrosion. If you see any damage, install a new fuel tank in your 1993 to 2008 model Metro. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines before beginning the tank removal and installation process. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Siphon hose Fuel container Floor jack Wooden board Fuel tank Torque wrench Towels Fan Fire extinguisher Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the negative battery cable from the car battery. Reduce fuel pressure by taking off the fuel filler cap from the fuel tank. Use a siphon hose to empty the remaining fuel into a fuel container. Put the filler cap back on and take off the rear seat cushions to gain top access to the trunk. 2 Unplug the fuel pump motor connector and sending unit electrical connectors on top of the fuel tank. Also remove the wire harness from the fuel tank bottom. Take off fuel lines and fuel hoses. Loosen the tank strap bolts and the fuel tank retaining straps. Lower the fuel tank to the ground with a floor jack and a wooden board supporting it. 3 Get a replacement fuel tank from any auto supply stores if your current fuel tank is too corroded or has too many cracks. Raise the fuel tank back underneath the trunk. Reconnect the fuel lines and the fuel breather hose back into the top of the fuel tank. Install the fuel tank retaining bolts with a torque wrench. Wrap the tank retaining straps around each end of the tank. 4 Install the fuel vapor hose and the hose clamps to hold it in place. Also connect the fuel return hose, the fuel filter inlet hose. Put the hose clamps on each hose to connect them better to the fuel tank. Attach the wire harness back around the bottom of the fuel tank. 5 Reconnect the fuel pump motor and the sending unit connectors to the top of the fuel tank. Pour the fuel back into the fuel tank. Put the rear seat cushion back on and activate the car battery by plugging in the negative battery cable. Cover the fuel tank with the fuel tank filler cap. 6 Check the car for any fuel leaks by putting a towel underneath to catch any leaks. Also inspect the car for any loose wires. Start your car and let the engine run briefly and look for any other leaks. If everything is fine, drive your car like you normally do and enjoy your new fuel tank. Tips & Warnings Make sure your work area well ventilated to avoid breathing in fuel or any other car fumes for too long. Get a fan to better circulate the air around your work space and keep you from passing out from the fumes. Never leave your fuel container open because the fuel could cause a possible fire if the container spills onto an easily flammable area. Make sure your fuel container is completely shut before storing it anywhere. Also, keep a fire extinguisher close by in case of a fire.
Daewoo . How to Install a Fuel Tank in a Honda CR-VThe 2001 to 2004 Honda CR-V is built like an SUV but has the benefit of being user friendly. Check the quality of your aging or used CR-V's parts, especially the fuel tank. If it shows signs of extensive wear or damage, replace your vehicle's fuel tank before any complications occur. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Fuel container Floor jack Step by Step : 1 Unplug the cable from the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical discharge as you work on your Honda. Drain any remaining fuel from the tank into a separate fuel container by using the fuel pump/sending unit. Also remove the fuel filler neck cover and hose as well as the fuel tank vapor hose. Inspect the hoses for any type of damage before going further; you'll need to replace any hoses that are damaged. 2 Use a floor jack to hold the fuel tank when you're ready to take it out. Unfasten the retaining straps and move them away from the CR-V's fuel tank. Lower the fuel tank to the ground and onto a firm surface such as a flat wooden board. 3 Put in the replacement tank under the car's trunk and fasten the tank straps onto the new fuel tank. Inspect the straps to make sure they're on tight enough before completing installation. 4 Secure the fuel filler neck hose and fuel tank vapor hoses. Attach the fuel filler neck cover to firmly lock the tank into place. Connect the negative battery terminal cable again and slowly refill the fuel tank with gas. 5 Test how your CR-V runs once installation is complete. Allow your car time to idle before leaving your driveway. After a few minutes, take your Honda for a spin to see if it runs well with its new fuel tank. Tips & Warnings Gather everything you need before you begin the fuel tank installation to avoid any interruptions in the process. Avoid getting burned by making sure the fuel tank and engine are cool before you start. *v* Standard and Phillips screwdrivers: In assorted sizes. You can find pictures of both types in Chapter 2. v* A screwholder: This tool is optional, but excellent for working in a small space like a distributor. Because it holds onto the screw until you release it, a screwholder cuts down on the chances of your dropping the screw into the works. It makes it easier to operate in the relatively tight distributor area because you don't have to cram your fingers in to hold onto the screw. (See Chapter 2 for a picture of a screwholder.) u* A small set of basic socket wrenches that includes a ratchet handle and a spark plug socket: Chapter 2 tells you what these look like and how to buy them. v* Combination wrenches: You can buy only the sizes you need to work on your distributor, but a small set of basic sizes is useful for a variety of home and automotive tasks. You can see how to buy and use combination wrenches in (you guessed it) Chapter 2. »-" A tach/dwell meter: This dual-purpose gadget (refer to Figures 12-42 through 12-44) not only has a dwell meter for measuring your point gap, but it also has a tachometer for measuring the revolutions per minute (rpm) of your engine, a function that's extremely valuable if you need to adjust your carburetor so that it idles properly. If you're going to buy a tach/dwell meter, look for one that has both high and low ranges on the tachometer, which can give you a more precise reading. (Because you won't need this very often, you may want to borrow one.) Don't let the lack of a dwell meter keep you from tuning your car! This chapter tells you how to do the job quite well with feeler gauges. I recommend a dwell meter because it's more accurate and can also help you adjust your carburetor (if your vehicle has one), but you can definitely live without one. u* A timing light: A timing light is a specialized piece of equipment that you use to check ignition timing on vehicles with non-electronic ignitions (refer to Figure 12-45). Because you won't need this tool very often, think about borrowing one from someone in your neighborhood who works on an older vehicle or has an old timing light. 208 Part "l: Kee Pin9 Your Car in Good Condition, System by System If you decide to buy a timing light, keep in mind that, generally, the more you pay, the brighter the light is. Neon lights are the cheapest, but because they operate off the spark plug circuit and use minimal voltage, they may not produce enough light for you to see clearly unless you work in almost total darkness. Xenon lights cost more but provide more light. I suggest that you buy a cheap light, try it out, return it, and buy the next more expensive one until you get what you need. When you look for a timing light, be sure that the cord is long enough and that the clamps are properly insulated so that you can grab them easily without getting shocked. The light should go on and off with a strobe effect when the clamps are properly affixed. When you shine the light at the timing marks on the moving crankshaft pulley of your engine, this strobe effect makes the marks appear to stand still so that you can see whether you have tuned your car properly. I go into the proper way to use this gadget and explain what timing really means later in this chapter. 481

To obtain the specs for your particular vehicle, you need the following information. All this information should be in your owner's manual, and most of it is also printed on metal tags or decals located inside your hood. You can usually find these in front of the radiator, inside the fenders, on the inside of the hood — anywhere the auto manufacturer thinks you'll find them. I know of one car that has its decal inside the lid of the glove compartment. These ID tags also give a lot of other information about where the vehicle was made, what kind of paint it has, and so on, but don't worry about that information right now. The make of the vehicle (for example, Ford or Honda). Daewoo . Do you need 1mm tire tread on whole tire or part?

The engine displacement: How much room there is in each cylinder when the piston is at its lowest point. (For example, a 300-cubic inch 6-cylinder engine has a displacement of 50 cubic inches in each cylinder.) The bigger the displacement, the more fuel and air the cylinders in the engine hold. . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune Engines on older cars may be listed in cubic inches, such as 302, 350, 454, and so on. Newer cars may be listed in liters (1.8, 2.3, 5.9) or cubic centimeters (2200, 3400, 3800). V0 The kind of fuel system: If your engine has a carburetor, you need to know how many carburetor barrels it has. It may be a 1-barrel, 2-barrel, or 4-barrel carburetor. ("Barrel" may be abbreviated as "bbl" on some specifications.) If your engine is fuel-injected, you may need to know whether your car has throttle body injection or multi-port injection. (Chapter 6 makes sense of this stuff.) V Whether the vehicle has air conditioning. It's necessary to take this into account when buying certain parts, but not usually spark plugs or distributor tune-up parts. Understanding tune-up specifications Your owner's manual may have specifications for everything you need for a basic tune-up. If you don't have an owner's manual, or if yours lacks the necessary data, you can go to an auto supply store and use a general "Tune-Up Specification Guide" (called a "spec sheet" for short). These guides are either in pamphlet form or printed on large sheets that are displayed near the parts section of the store (see Figure 12-1). If you can't find a spec sheet at the store, ask a salesperson to show it to you. Daewoo . Why your Wagon R duo gets low mileage when ac is on?
